The building stone of this valuable and beautiful product gradually fades over time. Decreased gloss is caused by 2 main reasons. Join us to learn more.
1- Accumulation of stains and mass on the surface of the stone:
If the stains penetrate into the texture of the stone, it will be very difficult to clean them and restore the luster ofthe stone.
2- Abrasion of the rock surface:
Due to high traffic, especially in soft rocks that have low abrasion resistance, the polishing of the rock decreases. Contaminants, sand and dust that adhere to the soles of shoes have an abrasive role in dealing with the surface of the stone, which eventually causes it to wear. To restore the luster of the stone, you can follow the steps below.
* First, clean the surface of the stone from stains and mass.
Make a mixture of baking soda, warm water and dishwashing liquid. To do this, dissolve about 50 grams of baking soda in a liter of water and add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Apply the mixture on the surface of the stone with a soft cloth or snuff and let it rest for a few minutes.
* Then wash the stone surface with warm water.
* At this stage, it is recommended to apply a little gypsum paste on the stone and after
washing it, dry the surface with a piece of leather. This step is especially suitable for countertop rocks. Finally, dry the stone surface with a clean cloth. To increase the gloss of the stone, you can also use industrial chemicals that are produced specifically for the stone
. Instructions on how to use these materials are provided with the product. These materials can be used for all types of building stones and create a shiny and wet appearance on the surface of the stone.
Yellowing in building stones
One of the phenomena seen in building stones is yellowing of the stone surface. Jaundice can occur due to one of the following four factors:
* The presence of iron in some building stones, including granite,
is the main reason for yellowing. White crystal may also contain iron. When iron is exposed to moisture, oxygen, acids, and even some detergents, it oxidizes to form the mineral hematite or limonite, which produces yellow to brown colors.
* Another cause of yellowing, especially in white marble,
is the accumulation of stains and mass. When the surface of these rocks is rubbed, the necessary space is provided for the accumulation of mass, and this case creates a yellowed appearance in the rock.
* Using wax on stones can cause yellowing of the stone.
These waxes gradually turn yellow and give a worn and old appearance to thestone.
* Using dirty cloth or snuff to clean the stone can eventually cause the surface of the stone to turn yellow. A clean cloth or snuff must be used to clean the stones.
If jaundice is due to iron oxidation, the best solution is to use a poultice. If the yellowing is due to a mass, detergents suitable for the stone should be used and the surface of the stone should be carefully cleaned. Finally, if the yellowing is due to waxes, it will be very difficult to clean. The gloss of building stones in different uses such as countertops or floors can be gradually reduced.
